"So many years and so many empires. Each carved at great cost in blood and sweat out of the jungle. It is an endless battle, against a world many think utterly hostile to civilization. This battle has been won only slightly more often than it has been lost - walk deep enough into the forest, and you will see the bones of those who failed."

"Each dead empire and crumbled city has left its mark. Art, trade, and magic have flourished and died in many places, and after each death has in time been reborn. The bulwarks against a hostile world are constantly renewed and undermined by those who man them, and many brave souls have spent their lives snatching one more arcane secret or mundane need from the claws of decay."

Rules

These pages describe ways in which the Ferath campaign setting differs from standard D&D. Some player character races and classes have been modified to fit this world, and a few entirely new ones are introduced. Indigenous skills, feats, and equipment are also described.

The study of supernatural forces in Ferath is gathered under the heading of mysticism, encompassing the disciplines of arcane magic, psionics, and divine magic.

The World

Ferath is a large place, only a small section of which has been detailed to date. The current known world of the setting consists of a wide stretch of lands, covered by jungle and bound on either side by deserts and oceans. The history, geography, and climate of its various regions are described below, as well as a few general notes on life in world very different from the Earth we know. The most obvious places in which these differences manifest is in Ferath's unique topography, which is similar to the rainforests of Earth but on a greatly magnified scale.

The world of Ferath is the core of a larger universe, most of which has been only dimly glimpsed by mortal eyes. Cosmology describes the other realms that surround and interact with the earthly one, and religion the interpretations and causes assigned to this universe by mortals.
